Hachajah

Recording Artist, Songwriter & Producer

Boston-based Sri Lankan a cappella artist Hachajah uses the human voice alone to create novel, genre-bending music. He writes entirely original tracks, blending layered harmonies, self-sampled percussion, and traditional Sri Lankan rhythms.

His award-winning album What Lies Within (Deluxe) explores mental health, love in wartime, parenthood and, finally, death, drawing on his experiences growing up during the Sri Lankan civil war. Recognised with multiple awards, including a Hollywood Independent Music Award and Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, Hachajah transforms the a cappella medium into a powerful instrument for storytelling, memory and complex cultural narrative.
