TEDx South Asia Regional Organizer Workshop is a platform for South Asia’s TEDx communities to collaborate on best practices, processes, and frameworks in order to leverage the TEDx platform locally and have a greater impact on the world, together.
This Regional Organizer Workshop fosters a collaborative spirit among all TEDx organizers who attend, without hierarchy.

The Cosmopolitan City of Colombo
Which serves as a gateway to Sri Lanka’s wonders, has a rich colonial history and is home to a diverse population of races, religions, and cultures. A city of contrasts, it is both an eclectic mix of glitzy hotels and office towers that are situated next to stunning red-tiled colonial structures. Street markets that are wide and busy are teeming with fresh produce, colorful silks and cottons, aromatic spices, and spices. Explore the multi-ethnic history of Colombo as you pass by churches, mosques, and temples in the same streets. Notable locations include Fort Station, the Red Mosque, and the Khan clock tower. Eat like a native, experience Colombo’s alluring street food culture, and take in the sights, sounds, and fragrances of the bustling Pettah Bazaar.

Visa Fee
US$20 for Saarc Countries & US$ 50 for other countries. On the basis of reciprocity, citizens of The Republic of Singapore, The Republic of Maldives and The Republic of Seychelles are exempt from the requirement of obtaining ETA to visit Sri Lanka.
How to Get Around Colombo
Walking
It is safe to walk around Colombo and if you are staying in Colombo 7, Colombo 1 or Colombo 3 most restaurants. Shopping haunts and hotels are all walking distance.
Tuk-tuk, Mini Cars and Luxury Cars
The most economical option if you choose to take short trips across the city is to get in to a tuk tuk. A tuk-tuk ride is really entertaining and can provide you the chance to interact with a local. You can book this, mini cars or luxury cars by downloading Uber, Kangaroo Cabs or PickMe on your phone. You can either pay by cash or by credit card options.
Local Bus
One of the most affordable methods to get around the island is the local bus system in Sri Lanka. Make sure you have Sri Lankan rupees in smaller denominations on hand because the bus driver won’t give you change until the journey is over. You can use www.routemaster.lk to find the bus appropriate for your journey
Train
When in Sri Lanka, embarking on a train journey is a must. It is by far more interesting and scenic than using any other mode of transportation. Of the many incredible places to visit in Sri Lanka by train, the most beautiful train ride is undoubtedly the one from Kandy to Ella. The journey is seven hours long and train season ticket prices tend to vary. However, the Kandy-Ella train ride will takes you through mesmerising landscapes of verdant tea plantations and panoramic mountain views which makes it an experience one has to have when on vacation in the island.
